This is one of the most idiotic things I've ever read. Does he believe this garbage?

A computer process can't "care deeply" about anything. It's a non sequitur.

AI can be very useful in a million ways but if you try to make it "care" or "take care of you" or understand "beauty" then you will create an abomination.

I think Elon Musk is making that prophesy to make people like you think and respond.

He could well be right:

AI can tap into human emotion better than many artists.

Look at this

https://youtu.be/cfWlejmqmvI?si=n5Vs8d5LBX9y5VjZ

Everything about the work of art is fake:  the blues singer, his name, the audience, the musical composition and the lyrics.  All generated in a few minutes by a machine.   It pulls at the heartstrings of most viewers.

This illustrates the enormous power of AI.

Elon Musk was putting out the proposition that AI would be a force for good in the future, not an uncontrollable monster that ushers in a dystopia run by a virtual Big Brother.

Your statement that Elon Musk’s statement is garbage, is itself garbage in the same category.

That is because the future is unknown.  All statements about the future of humanity are non-verifiable in principle - so in this sense (from a logical positivist perspective) they are meaningless i.e., garbage

Note: like Elon Musk I am just making this comment to provoke thought.  No need to argue.

A Father’s Pain: Michael Bennett Sings “Waiting on Your Shadow” on America’s Got Talent

A father’s pain took center stage on America’s Got Talent as Michael Bennett delivered a deeply emotional performance of “Waiting on Your Shadow.” The song tells the story of a father who never stopped waiting for his child to come home—and the raw emotion in Michael’s voice left the judges and audience in tears. This performance isn’t just about music. It’s about loss, hope, and unconditional love that refuses to fade with time. A moment that proves how powerful a single song can be when it comes straight from the heart. The statement "The mat sat on the cat." is a grammatically valid English sentence. It's also nonsense. Similarly the statement that an AI entity can "care deeply about truth and beauty" is grammatically correct but utter nonsense with one caveat: if you are a transhumanist who believed that machines can be conscious and that humans can merge with machines and retain their humanity, then it's not nonsense. In that case it's a statement which aligns with your deepest beliefs.

The statement that "Jesus died for our sins" is logically nonsense too, unless you are a practicing Christian, in which case it aligns with your core convictions so cannot be nonsense.

I suspect that Elon Musk has aligned himself with transhumanism - call it a religion if you wish. If so then that's his core belief system and the statement is not nonsense.

So, upon reconsideration I will say that Elon's post is a statement of faith. I don't subscribe to his religion so to me it's nonsense.

I also believe (derived from my own beliefs and ruminations) that Elon's religion may well be demonic and poses an existential threat to civilisation.

That is an excellent reply to my provocation.  You touched on many subjects of interest.  I’ll defer to your judgement in relation to machine processing of language.  You would understand better than I  . . being a coder as well as a philosopher

Agree “Jesus died for our sins” is pretty incomprehensible. Especially if he was God, as Christians believe as a matter of religious conviction (a protected attribute under some anti discrimination laws in Australia).  I’ll ask Grok to interpret it for me

I would like to see you put together an essay on this platform you created with ‘non-artificial intelligence’  - on so-called ‘artificial intelligence’ & we could take it from there :-)

On second thoughts, you don't need to write that essay on AI.

This guy has already done it done:-
